Never a fan of the billable hours model, Debra founded Spatz Law Group on the belief that the traditional method of practicing law is flawed. When every communication between an attorney and client is expected to be billed, it reduces the incentive to communicate. And without communication, an attorney cannot do the best job possible to guide and protect their clients.
Instead, Spatz Law Group promotes communication by implementing a fixed fee method to serve families by educating and guiding them to make decisions that are tailored to their specific needs and goals. Plus, the relationship is not over once their estate plan is complete, it is actually just beginning. We will make sure their plan is kept up to date over the years when those needs and goals inevitably change and evolve.

Our Team
Debra Spatz | Attorney
Debra was raised in the Chicago area, graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Finance and went on to receive her law degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law, focusing on corporate/securities and international law. After several years of practicing transactional law and civil litigation in Chicago, she moved to Ohio to start a family with her husband. With five kids in tow and a husband who traveled for work, Debra took a break from the full-time practice of law and supplemented life as a mom with short term contract legal positions. Now that they are all in school, Debra is excited to open her own practice and help the people in her community protect their own loved ones.
When Debra is not caring for her five children and all their animals (dogs, cats, bunnies…) or dedicating her time to helping families with their legal needs, she enjoys serving coffee as a local barista, spending time with friends and creating art and jewelry through woodworking. Debra lives in Akron, Ohio.
Guadalupe “Lupe” Preston | Attorney *licensed in Illinois Only
Guadalupe Preston “Lupe” is an attorney licensed to practice in Illinois and the Seventh Circuit. Lupe is a first generation American Mexican and Polish background and has a strong commitment to service. Lupe has been working in the non- profit sector for the last 20 years in a variety of executive roles. She is well versed in the challenges facing seniors and accompanying family members and the need for careful family planning. Both of Lupe’s parents were immigrants who did not understand the needs for planning. She has worked with people of different cultures and understands the need to respect their beliefs and traditions. She believes in being a citizen of the world we live in and in being ecologically responsible. Lupe is fluent in Spanish and English, is conversational in French, Hebrew, Polish and Mandarin.
Lupe is a graduate of Northwestern University, Loyola School of Law and DePaul University. She also holds an M.S. in non- profit administration. She has received community service awards from LULAC, the Illinois Hispanic State Employees Association and has served on the boards of the Chicago Jobs Council, the IFF and was a past gubernatorial appointee to the Illinois Hispanic Employment Advisory Council. She currently serves on the boards of the Second Federal Self-Help CU and The Linden House Handmaidens of the Poor.
A single mom, Lupe has traveled the world, visiting 27 different countries with her son while he was growing up. She believes in being open to new experiences and challenges herself in big and small ways. An avid runner, she has done 29 marathons, including Chicago, London, Mexico City, Cincinnati and more. She loves meeting people on the race course and has done triathlons, stair climbing competitions (Hustle Up the Hancock), gone parachuting, kayaking and plays the piano. A Chicago native, she grew up on the north side of Chicago and is a Cubs fan!
Ashleigh Moulder // Client Services Director
Ashleigh is our Client Services Director and your main contact when you work with Spatz Law Group. Her roles include providing regular updates to clients, prompt and friendly communication to questions and inquiries, taking on all the administrative duties, and making sure the office runs smoothly every day.
Prior to working at Spatz Law Group, Ashleigh was a shift manager at a local coffee shop for 5 years. She received her degree from the Arizona State University in Nutrition. Ashleigh lives in Copley, Ohio with her husband and son and when not keeping Spatz Law Group’s office running, she enjoys her free time by relaxing with her husband, baby boy and two cats at home or taking long walks on one of the many trails in the Cuyahoga Valley.
